Details on the GPS Mosaic

The GPS mosaic is centred on Galactic longitude/latitude: l=52 and b=0 and was constructed from 14439 WFCAM J, H and K detector frames. The final mosaic is 409600 x 16384 pixels at 1 arcsec/pixel.

The mosaic was built using TERAPIX software, SWarp and STIFF, to build intermediate 16384 x 16384 blocks. These blocks were than broken up into 256 x 256 tiles so that the image can be browsed over the internet using Zoomify.
